Default Burnsville..........

So I hear all these wonderful things about Burnsville. Down to earth people, friendly, cheaper living etc.......
However I also have done some personal research and have seen that the school system is horrid. Does anyone live on the border of Burnsville and go through the Apple Valley District for schooling??
What are everyones thoughts on Burnsville.

I am not a fan of the Burnsville schools. The behavior that is displayed by the students at football, basketball and other sports contests alone would keep from putting my kids in the Burnsville schools. A very small section of Burnsville is in the Rosemount, Apple Valley, Eagan (196) district. I guess if you want to be in the southern suburbs, why pick Burnsville when you have the 196 schools and the Lakeville schools right next door?

I've been living in Burnsville since November '94. There's nothing wrong with the schools. What are you people talking about?

I went through the 191 Burnsville school system myself: William Byrne, Metcalf, and BHS. I think I turned out pretty good. Students personal choices are not how to rate a school district. Anyone can do good if they want to.

First, I don't want to start an argument. Second, I have to completely disagree. You're saying my first-hand experience in the Burnsville schools are not a good rating system? Wow. I guess asking a person in Minnesota or any other place on Earth is not a good way to rate a place too, huh? Rating systems period are biased. They are based on opinions. Whether I lived here or not it is still gonna be biased. And yes, I will say the schools are great to raise kids. Burnsville High School has two campuses to deal with the overcrowding. More and more people keep sending their kids to that school. When I graduated there were 2,500 kids in that school. That was in 2003. Now I'm sure there are more. If you sent your kids to school he or she would be sure to make a lot of friends, provided your kid was sociable. Really, it is not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

--The school is clean.
--The teachers are helpful.
--They have police officers and they are EXTREMELY nice. I recently bumped into one of them and had a hard time having a conversation with him.

I could go on and on. If the kids get a little rowdy during school games then that is normal. What high school doesn't have kids getting rowdy during school games? I would highly recommend sending a kid to Burnsville High School.

EDIT: I just reread bobbbyy's post and feel like a dumbass. I don't think he was directing it against me anymore. I'm so embarassed.

I was not a fan of dist 191 myself (Burnsville). I lived in Eagan at the time. I have a child that needed Special Education. Rahn elementary did a fine job with him for special education. I had the best of both worlds because he was able to get special education and still go to his small private school. They were awesome about bussing him to and from Rahn.

Burnsville (BHS) has an awesome performing arts (Theater) program. Remember, school is what you get out of it.
