Many restaurants in the Duluth area serve vegetarian wild rice burgers, smoked salmon and wild rice salads, and cream of wild rice and mushroom soup. I've personally eaten my share of wild rice hamburger hot dish with potatoes and cream of mushroom soup. Another favorite up here is wild rice pancakes.

I have a recipe for wild rice salad with chicken, green grapes and slivered almonds that's good. Eating in a restaurant you'll sometimes get a meat dish served on a bed of wild rice mixed with seasonings.

Forgot about Spring Grove Soda or "pop" as we're more apt to say. The company has been around for a hundred years and specializes in the fruity flavors made with local spring water. As a kid I thought I had hit the jackpot when we were some place that served it.

Check out their creamy orange (like a Dreamsicle) and rhu-berry, made with rhubarb.

I had the most wonderful garlicky wild rice hamburger at Bar Harbor Supper Club in Brainerd, MN. topped with bacon and bleu cheese. We still make them at home.

Just check to see if it was still on the menu and I'm sorry to see it's not but I see they have a shandy battered or pistachio crusted filet of walleye served on a bed of wild rice. That is certainly not your standard MN shore lunch!
