I know there are Tornados in southern MN and western MN
where there are not many trees. How about where MN is heavely forested?
Anyone live around Hibbing , Virginia, duluth area? It is dense forest in those parts.

Growing up near Duluth, I remember a few tornadoes. Once, during the summer, my hockey team was eating at a restaurant near Carlton and a tornadoe came thorugh, knocked the power out, (we were all in the basement) and it rained so hard water began to rush down the steps and flood the basement. After it was over, there were a lot of tree branches and a few trees knocked over and some hail damage. That was it and around 1989. I don't think we get too many up here.

I remember two tornado warnings in the Duluth area in the early to mid-nineties (when I was still in grade school. I only ever remember one touching down, during our school carnival. Everybody got into the hallways and ducked in the corners like we were taught. Other than that, nothing I can remember. I'd be more worried about bundling up in the cold than a tornado.

It usually doesn't get hot and humid enough up north but they do happen every once in a while. Having lived in MN most of my life, we have never had any tornado damage or even been closer then about 5 miles from a tornado.

I spent the first 25 years of my life in Duluth and the last 3 1/2 in the Grand Rapids area. We've had a few tornado watches/warnings here and there, but not very often and not very severe damage when it does happen (at least in my memory.) We do get some nasty thunderstorms and even hail every once in a while, but that's usually the worst of it. The climate/terrain around here is not generally very favorable for tornadoes though.
