Very much so. My husband is retired from Emergency Management. Those were stressful times for both of us. Until it happened I had no idea what a traumatic nightmare cleanup was for the workers and volunteers. Heavy machinery had to be used with extreme caution because of the possibility of survivors being under debris. So people were working with a sense of urgency combined with the need to work slowly and carefully.

Numerous professional groups from outside the area flocked to St. Peter to lend their assistance. The planners of the local memorial services were probably too young or unaware and these people went unacknowledged during the recent memorial service. Thanks to everyone who helped!

I remember being angry and disappointed at State law which prohibited the Red Cross from distributing the generous gifts of food to the workers for "health reasons." A crazy protection during a disaster.

And a curse on your houses to all who came to gawk and loot interfering with efficient procedure.

St. Peter looks better than ever today but many who experienced the storm still get the shivers when they hear the wind pick up. We're all grateful for them it wasn't worse.

I'll take It, it means warmer temps lol. One thing I miss about Texas is the excitement of tornado season.
