Chanhassen, MN - Your thoughts?
Hey everyone. I will be relocating to Chanhassen, MN this coming June with my boyfriend. He grew up there, but I have no idea what I'm getting myself into. He's somewhat biased, so can anyone tell me about the area? The perks perhaps? The good, the bad. Any information would be appreciated greatly!!

I have never lived there but I have been there. It seems to be a very nice town. Lots of really nice homes!

Hi ladymorgaine82, I live in Chaska MN, which is just down the road from Chanhassen, and Chaska was rated number 8 0ut of 100, as the best places to live in the U.S. according to Money Magazine, hope this helps.

I would like to also tell you it has a lot of new houses, a popular dinner theater, target, a upscale grocery store, also a number of lakes nearby, sports and health club, a very
nice community.Chanhassen is close to other suburbs, so you are within a short distance of a variety of shopping, entertainment, or just about anything you would like to do.

I bought a townhouse in Chanhassen two years ago, and I love living here. As laplander described, everything feels new and very nice. It feels "out there" enough that it's calm and quiet, yet still within 1/2 hour of downtown and other suburbs that offer everything you would need as far as entertainment goes. And the Chanhassen Dinner Theater is wonderful, if you ever have a chance to go I highly suggest it! Also, we have a beautiful and HUGE Lifetime Fitness right off of 5 and hwy 41 if a gym is a priority for you. It's a little spendy but it's top notch, and I can see it from my front window. I've lived in the Twin Cities vicinity nearly all my life and I have never felt safer than I do in Chan.
The only *negative* I can think of is, when I tell people I live in Chanhassen, I often get the "ohhh you're one of those rich yuppie types!"....whatever that means. I'm not a "yuppie" and I'm definately not rich. I just brush it off.
Brian.

All I can say is it's too far from where I like to be. But, it is a very nice area...off the beaten path. Ask him to compromise a little and move you to Eden Prairie. Robust area, about five miles from the Chan....That'll get you closer to shopping on France Ave and keep him close to home too.

If you are incredibly wealthy, drive a beamer or a benz and care about no one but yourself, it's a great place to live.
Never before have I seen such snobbiness in one place with the exception of McLean, VA.

Chanhassen is a pretty community. The arboretum is located there! Google U of M Landscape Arboretum. It's a beautiful place - and yes, the dinner theater is fun. It is a ways away from the city if you don't mind driving in traffic.

Beg pardon, but the Arboretum is in Chaska, not snothassen.

IF it is officially in Chaska, realistically it is just as close to Victoria and Chan as it is Chaska.
