I'm sure I'll get alot of hate for this remark, but here it goes...
Unless you're from MN, with all your friends and family there, there's really no compelling reason to live there. As someone born and raised there and since moved on, that's my .02.

I have lived in Minnesota my whole life-in Duluth and in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The Minnesota nice ends once you get south of Duluth. People in the twin cities are not Minnesota nice-everyone is only focused soley on themselves. I once held a door for two ladies at Caribou Coffee in Coon Rapids and the ladies nearly died of shock because noone even does that down there. As for making friends, you can make them-but Minnesota just tends to be clicky. Good luck on your move though.

In my opinion no matter where you move as an adult it's always hard to make good friends. You have to consider that most places you move to, most of the people have lived there forever and have their social circle already established. So I don't think MN is really that different then anywehre else. It also I think depends how long you have lived at the place you moved to. It takes a long time to make good long lasting friends.

People who find it hard to make friends consider this: Maybe people don't want to be friends with you. Do you smell funny?
On a more serious note, just like everywhere else, there are a few things Minnesotans will tsk at, and if you're not astute enough to pick up on that then you're really gonna be friendless.

We are hosting a GIGANTIC Superbowl party to get to know new people in the Metro area!
Please Note: This is only for MN natives. We will be practicing secret MN handshakes which will help newcomers know how to tell a true-blue Minnesotan. We don't want to hold doors open or give up our seats on the bus to just anyone unless we know that the are "one of us".
For directions, please email me a copy of your birth certificate.
Oh, bring a hotdish or some bars to share.
