Default Question

Hi everyone. I moved to Minnetonka not too long ago and I am trying to find a Gem and Mineral Club or a Rockhound club to join. I have had no luck looking online. I was wondering if anyone knows of any semi close to Minnetonka. Thanks for your help.

Lissa

That is one rare request. I would inquire over at the UMN Geology department. Otherwise, wow - don't know.

There's an absolutely **WONDERFUL** Gem and Rock store in Richfield (he has tons of fossils in both raw and polished form, amethyst cathedrals, various rare and rather expensive (some 4-5 digits) mineral samples, etc.) and while there isn't a club per se affiliated with them that I know of, the owner flies all over the world to obtain samples and such and I'm sure he knows folks in town who might be good contacts.

We've purchased a lot of stuff form them over the years (I have several nice things from the "sale" sample tables in the back).

Contact your local school district's community education department. I can think of the "official" name of the activity but that whole mineral hunting thing is becoming very popular and chances are the offer a class or club.
