Hi everyone!

Does Minnesota have cannabis dispensaries? Or is that something coming soon?

I’m from Nevada & im considering a move to Minnesota. But my husband needs his medical weed for his seizures.

Thank you 😊

Kind of. But not really

MN is regulated quite heavily. Up until about a year ago when the added "chronic pain" or something along those lines, almost no one qualified. It's still pretty restricted. You'll have to visit a doctor and hope for the best. It's nothing like Nevada. Obviously.

Oh Minnesota doesn’t even have an good medical weed program for those in need? That’s sad. My husband does great on cannabis for seizures. My cousin does phenomenal for crowns disease. Our good friend broke his ankle & arm in a car accident, he ended up addicted to opiates. Rehab didn’t help him. After 1 month of medical marijuana he got off all his pain medications.

Support it or not cannabis really helps. It’s definitely less damaging then alcohol.

Nevada is making a lot of tax dollars off it. I hope Minnesota wakes up soon.

Thank you 😊

I just got back from Vegas and marijuana (both medical and recreational) is a lot easier to get and use there.

My stepson got MMJ for cancer treatment and it was a hassle to get approved. We ended up having one of the directors of the Children's Hospital sign off and then we still had to go through a whole application process and pay $200 for the medical card, and then about a month's worth was around $400. The hospital wouldn't even let him use it (in pill or edible form) yet they handed out oxys like they were candy, which got to the point where he had withdrawals after leaving the hospital.

It may be easier for you and your family if you already have medical documentation on file, though. But also there are only a few MMJ dispensaries in the metro area.

Yes we have them, my wife gets it when she wants. It’s medical only and in drops or vape form only. She failed a drug test for a new job, but she still got the job via having it be medical. She doesn’t use anymore as it really didn’t help with her eye problem.

Thank you for the information. That’s sad that Minnesota doesn’t have an effective medical marijuana program. Not allowing cannabis flower is a big mistake as cannabis flower is proven to treat many health issues.

I hope things change soon.

Check back in a year or two. Outgoing Governor Dayton has steadfastly opposed marijuana legalization but incoming Governor Walz does support it. That said, I doubt it's going to be a priority for the new governor. He'd presumably sign a legalization bill, but the drive is going to have to come from the legislature, and with the state senate remaining in Republicans hands any possibility of such a bill passing is low.

Not surprisingly, the Minnesota public overwhelming supports legalization.

A majority favor legalization but “overwhelming” may overstate the level of support.

“A KSTP/SurveyUSA poll conducted earlier this month (Sept 2018) found 56 percent of registered voters said they would support legalization of recreational marijuana for residents over 21-years-old, while 35 percent said no, and 10 percent were not sure.”

I'd say 56%-35% is overwhelming support. In fact, I did say that (and, yes, that KSTP poll was what I had in mind).

Your conditional objection to my choice of adverb is duly noted.

I really hope recreational is made legal. If it isn’t a priority of the incoming governor it darn well should be! The tax revenues could be used for education, infrastructure projects and tackling the opioid crisis.
