We are moving to the alexandria mn area in late august and am trying to make a decision about which school to send my elementary aged child to. He could either attend his boundary area school which is Voyager, or we were looking at Miltona Magnet School for Science. He likes science and they seem to have an interesting program but I am really not sure about it. Any locals have input??

I am not sure about the elementary schools in Alexandria, however the new high school built around 4-to-5 years ago, on the east side of Alex visible from I-94, is beautiful and Alexandria Community and Technical College is one of the more highly regarded two-year colleges in Minnesota.

To check on Voyager Elementary and Miltona Magnet School for Science, I would definitely look them up on websites such as: "Schooldigger" and "Great Schools". In addition, call the two schools now before you move then visit in-person once you move to Alex in August.

This is a resort area, so most locals are enjoying the lakes: either boating, fishing, water skiing, hiking, camping, and running their summer businesses. Alexandria is cabin country!
