We’ll be moving to Mankato soon and not having much luck searching online for nice/newer rentals in the Mankato/New ulm area. Where is the best place to search for rental properties online?

I did find some. Most were apartments or older homes. I’m looking for a newer single family home. Not sure I want to buy yet because I’m not all that committed to living in Minnesota long term (no more than 2 years).

I would check with some local realtors....just google some and cold call them.

If they don't do any rentals...they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Good luck!

The fact that Mankato is a college town will present challenges finding available rentals: both single family homes and apartments. There are a fair amount of places which will rent to you for nine-months

Combined the cities of Mankato and North Mankato have a population of about 52,000 making it a nice small city. Minnesota State University-Mankato has an enrollment around 14,000-16,000 students. In addition, Bethany Lutheran University is atop the river bluff overlooking downtown, and South Central Community and Technical College is right across the Minnesota River in North Mankato. Twelve miles north of Mankato along US highway 169 or Minnesota highway 22 is Gustavus Adolphus College in the river town of St.Peter.

There is a severe shortage of housing almost everywhere in Minnesota. They are just starting to build a few new homes in Mankato, not nearly enough to keep up with demand, and nowhere near the amount of new construction some of the Twin Cities Southwest suburbs such as: Shakopee, Prior Lake, Savage, Chaska, Chanhassen, Carver, Lakeville are experiencing.
