I live about 5 mi. west of Cambridge and commute to Plymouth. Wife commutes to d'town Mpls. Commute- horrible as a previous poster stated. There is just no easy way to get there. 169- under construction through Elk River-Rogers for the next 2-3 yrs. 65 has more stoplights and accidents than any other route. 47 (sigh) is another option, but you have to weave your way through Anoka-Champlin-B.Park. I realize that your post is older, but if you can cut this commute time down, I strongly encourage you to do so. You become numb to it after awhile but 2-3 hrs. a day in the car cheats you of a lot of quality time.

Real estate is going up due to a couple new developments around town and it remains a better choice than Isanti. I've run into people who have chosen East Bethel right on 65 and have positive comments about it.

Another person mentioned that it is "mullety." What a great term that is...spot on. You can count mullets at the local Wal-Mart for some entertainment.

We have 4 kids (middle and high school) and must say that the schools are better than Savage, MN, but have no other basis for opinion. Classes in the 15-20 student range, and the middle school just opened this year.

We have Wild season tix which is about the only time we choose to make the drive. Coon Rapids/Blaine are where we frequently shop if you choose stores like Kohl's, Lowe's, etc. Regarding N. Branch area v. C'town, it seems as though the growth is growing from 35W west to Cambridge.

A final comment is the concern for meth labs related small time crime. Not uncommon in rural areas, and it appears as though the issue is headed in the right direction. We just overemphasize the importance of drugs with our kids on a constant basis- and have had no problems to date.

Smile Cambridge

If you don't like country music, transmisstions in the front yard, drinking beer from the bathtub and outhouses then don't move to Cambridge. Your kids won't be able to read by the time you leave this place. Only twin city folks can read. You said you wanted positives but you give us only negatives. Why don't you move to a nice big city that has even more crime than MPLS. How about Detroit or Chicago? There will be lots to do there. You can take self defence classes, learn how to use firearms and you can memorize the meth hotline numbers.

Cambridge is a nice town, your not going to find alot of (mullet heads). My parents live in Cambridge and they love it. It is not that small of a town anymore, they have Target, Menards, Walmart, Applebees, the hospital, court house, movie theater and much more. New homes are much cheaper, you could live in a neighborhood or on acreage, its a pretty large area.

I grew up near Cambridge. That town has definitely changed for the better. Lots of new affordable homes and some high end in the surrounding area. Also the amount of commuters has changed the landscape of Cambridge. The Mullet comment was ridiculous. I see just as many in Lakeville.
