Rental In Rochester
We are from Michigan and we are interested in a home in the 900 block on 10th street in Rochester. We have kids so we don't want to be in a not good area. Any thoughts

Not really considered the best part of town, but not too bad either. I have a friend who lives relatively near that location and she likes it. We are not too far from it ourselves. Close to a city park. Near one of the Choice schools. Not sure which regular school boundary that is, but I'd recommend Lincoln (Choice) or Franklin.

I'd pick the SE location over that NW address. I really don't think any area is perfect unless you can afford the really pricey places. The benefit of the SE location is you are close to a park that is pretty nice. Not sure what nighttime activity occurs at that park though. The other location is somewhere I personally would not choose to live. I have 3 small children. Have you looked into some of the nearby smaller towns? That's always something to consider to depending on where you are working and such.

My husband is in Winona right now renting a room. He works around Winona mainly but the company he works for said he can live in the Rochester, Winona or even LaCrosse area. We now live in the country and would like to again. I never see any rentals in Winona. We have a 15 year old and I want to live in a area that has a smaller High School as that is what he is used to. If you could suggest any area that would be great

I'd say look at St. Charles, Dover, Eyota - they are between Winona and Rochester on Hwy 14. I have seen rentals for St. Charles on Winona's newspaper's website. winonadailynews.com - Winona, Minnesota Newspaper, news, sports, weather, obituaries, autos, homes, jobs, tourism, events, photos and video You might also look here Denied:1up! Software but I'm not sure that includes St. Charles or Dover-Eyota. Check the Rochester classified too as sometimes there are listings there. Postbulletin.com: Rochester, MN A friend of mine here grew up in St. Charles and loved it and I believe the Dover-Eyota schools are pretty good too. I know there are people in Rochester who attend school there and I'm sure it goes the other way too but they are all relatively close to Rochester and Winona so it's not a huge drive to go do some major shopping or anything like that. You could also look at Plainview. We've drive through there a few times and it looks like a nice area. It's north of 14 but still not that far from Winona or Rochester. If you want to look at LaCrosse, my husband's uncle lived in West Salem for a couple of years and they loved it. Not sure what rentals go for there or how the schools are but it's smaller and right outside LaCrosse. Ask away if you have any more questions and if I come across any other places with rental listings I'll try to get over here to post.

Unless it's changed a bit Plainview doesn't treat outsiders very well. I went to school there for a bit and our family wasn't treated very well by the kids or adults because we didn't grow up there.
