MN has nice people and not so nice, so does every other state. To say MN is not nice is too general.
I was at MOA in the spring and there were 2 guys in the elevator saying how nice the people are around here. I asked him where they were from and they said CA, I told him I thought the people of CA were nicer ( we go there every summer) he just laughed and said that he thought MN people were more innocent then I laughed. Alot of people think somewhere other than where you are living is so much nicer. You always want what you can't or don't have.

Thank you Kingsnkali. I am surprised more MN men dont' talk about this. This man-hating meanness is very apparent. I, too, would never hold a door for a woman unless she were vry old and in need of help. This man-hating environment was very apparent to me when I was attending the University of MN and in various jobs which I held at the University, Hennepin Country AFDC-Economic Assistance and at Allina Health Care. It is also very evident now that I am teaching junior and senior high in the Twin Cities. It also is evident at my Greek church where the women are arrogant, rude and pretentious and think they are better than others.
What is wrong with these people?

I think I know what you guys are talking about : MN women are quick to assume you're hitting on them. Is that what you mean? Could you elaborate more?

Been to California - not ever going back
From one who has lived in both California and in Minnesota, I will take Minnesota every day. Yes, there are some bad drivers here and some rude people, but here, those are the exceptions. In California, that is the norm. People here in Minnesota have always treated me nicer and I enjoy returning that favor. In CA, it was dangerous to even try to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger, here it happens all the time. You can have CA. I will stay here.

How about instead of comparing two entirely different places just stick to why you like Minnesota? I'm a native Californian and will always love California, never been to Minnesota but I'm sure it's a great state as well. I wish people would stop with comparing states and trying to say how one is better than the other.

Minnesota drivers couldn't merge to save their lives.
There is much worse traffic elsewhere, but honestly people. Merge means accelerate, not brake.

The left lane is the FAST lane... and FAST doesnt mean the speed limit. Its annoying when drivers go 68 in the left lane and hold up traffic. Dont be in the left lane unless youre going to drive AT LEAST 74. And people are so stupid, they cannot merge. Just idiots, all you have to do is accelerate, and be going 70 when you get to the end of the entrance ramp. Its not rocket science. Oh yeah, and people just dont get 4 way intersections with stop signs. Its the rule, the person to who go their first is the first to go. if its a tie, then its the person on the right...DUH

I run into similar situations all the time here in Atlanta. Some entrances to roads here have a long acceleration lane so a driver can get up to speed and merge with traffic, and I just saw someone this morning pull out into that merge lane and stop right away with their turn signal on, oblivious to the fact that they had several hundred feet of uncontested merge lane ahead of them for their use. Not only did they not use it, but they blocked everyone behind them from turning...
I'm still a supporter of mandatory state driving tests every five years. There are far too many drivers who don't have a clue how to drive...

When the OP said we had bad drivers I disagreed on the idea that the drivers are rude, and I still disagree. But I agree with Wolfgang and knke that the drivers are too wimpy. I am tired of merging onto a 60 mph highway at 45 mph because some slowpoke is afraid to press down on the accelerator. Yes, like knke said, I could be at 70 easily! God! I hate that crap. I also hate the constant slowing down to watch car accidents.
Here's an incident that I witnessed just a few weeks ago: I was on Highway 100 and after I passed the Excelsior Blvd exit traffic quickly became stop and go. I thought there must be a rational reason for this until I came to the 394 exit and noticed that there was an accident on the OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY! Let me repeat: people had stopped to watch the car accident on the other side of the highway. This was just an every day accident, no one was hurt, and the cars were divided by the concrete divider. I can't believe people were stopping to watch the police and tow truckers clear the accident on the other side of the highway. Have these people never seen an accident before? Dang man, it pissed me off like you wouldn't believe.

Add this to the 4-way.
If you are turning left and the vehicle accross from you is going straight, you turn behind the vehicle coming towards you. If you are going straight and the oncoming vehicle is turning left, you go and let the other vehicle turn behind you. Both vehicles can move forward into the intersection at the same time, but the left turn waits for the other car to pass. How hard is that? This clears the intersection faster.
What is up with people that wait for you to turn in front of them? Simple rule is don't turn in front of somebody, turn behind them.
