Default Rosemount

Any feedback on Rosemount? We came to visit and liked the area. It is in 196, seems to be developing a little slower. Anyone live there? We will only be going downtown to play so the commute is not as important. Any feedback is much appreciated.

We just bought a home in Rosemount but won't be moving up to MN until the end of May so I'm not sure I'm the one to answer your questions. What you mean by "developing a little slower." Are you referring to housing? ISD 196? shopping in Rosemount?

I've gotton feedback on 196 from "golfgal" and a friend who has a sister and a sister-in-law working as teachers in this district and all are have very high praise for this school district.

I'm with Robert...golfgal is the one to answer questions regarding Rosemount!

Thanks Robert! I live in Rosemount. We moved her last summer after a lot of research on the area. I LOVE Rosemount. We have lived all over and this is one of my favorite towns. There are a lot of amenities near by, the schools are the best in the state and some of the best in the country. The people are friendly, it has a real small town feel yet, it is big enough that not everyone knows everything about everyone. It is a fairly diverse population for a Minnesota suburb. I HIGHLY recommend the area.

We just got an email about national publication that is designed for companies looking for spots to relocate. Part of this publication rates school districts, but only districts of a population of 3000 or more. The 196 district, Eden Prairie and Mounds View are rated in the top 17% in the nation, the only districts in the state to get that rating.

The rating is based on graduation rates, per pupil expenditures, teacher pay, median income, so some pretty good indicators of the importance of education in the area. It is also an unbiased look at the districts since they have nothing to gain from the ratings. Here is the link:

So you settled on a price/etc. GREAT! I was just up in your new neighborhood last night picking up a friend of my youngest son for teen night at the community center. It is a once-month thing at the community center for kids 6-8th grades. They have games, music, basketball and a host of other things for the kids to do. They have a BLAST at this. Just one other nice thing about Rosemount!

We agreed on a price and the inspection is done. We have a 5/31 closing date. I also got the kids registered for school this week. Everyone was extremely helpful. We're anxious to get up there and get involved in all the schools and the community have to offer. Thanks again for all of your help!

I guess what I meant by developing slower was that I did not see a lot of strip malls or fast food or Wal Marts(or is it Targetland!). I really like the area too. It is good to know my instincts or on track!
