Default Do you (or your family) "Winter" in the South?

There are tons of Minnesotans that winter in the South. It seems like FL, TX, and AZ are the #1 destinations. I have heard Alabama is becoming popular too.

My parents have a house in Mission, TX. The locals call us "Winter Texans". The people are great down there, and Mexico is a blast.

Well when I get old, these bones are not going to be sitting the the freezing cold. Four or five months of the year will be spent in the heat.

The people who are able to winter in the south are retirees with a load of cash or people still working with a lot of cash. Most of us regular folks aren't financially able to do such a thing as wintering in the south. So we have to grit our teeth and bear the winter.

No need to grit the teeth and bear it. Get out on a pair of x-c skis or snowshoes and EMBRACE IT! True Minnesotans love the snow don't they?! Honestly, I really miss winters!

Default From a place with no "real" winter

I live in Gastonia NC. It's in the south and we have hot summer days and a lot of sort of warm winter days too. I can't stand the winters. It gets cold and above us it's snowing in the mountains, below us it's warm enough to have no jackets. I'd much rather have nothing but snow. Snow up to my eyeballs! I love the snow. Last winter it snowed and the roads weren't even covered- but low and behold schools were cancelled people rushed to the grocery stores buying milk, bread and eggs like someone had called for a blizzard. It's funny down here sometimes. I have friends in Mass, Michigan and Maine that laugh when I tell them about all of the snow we get-enough to have a snowball fight and build a skinny snowman.

No, I don't winter. I think it's for wimps lol. But some of my cousins do that and say it's pretty fun. I thinks it so funny when Southern states get snow, and they say "oh, it's so cold!" then i can just be like u don't know what cold is buddy.
