pintofury is on a distinguished road
I used to think for the longest time I had that generic monotone accent and even made fun of the southerners for their "Ain't none" instead of out of order but since moving back to Mn from Sc I really hear the accent. Funny thing was when I moved to SC my boss was upset I didn't have the "Fargo"accent. But i do ask if you wanna go with. Drives my wife(from Pennsylvania)absolutely nuts.

Oh yes they do! I've heard it several times. The first time we were visiting here from out of state and the desk clerk at our motel asked what we were going to do that day. After we told her she said, "Oh, for fun!" Since we've lived here I've heard it a few more times, but not a lot. My sister says her mother-in-law (a MN native) says it a lot. I have never heard it anywhere else, and I've lived in 5 states.

There's a book called "How to Talk Minnesotan" that has Oh, for fun and oh,for cute in it. It points out that it's a feminine phrase. For example, no MN guy would say "Oh, for dirty" about his hands after changing the oil in his car.

This reminds me of a joke I heard many years ago while a student at the University if Iowa. Seems that a young man had transferred to the University from its cross-state (and decidedly more rural) rival, Iowa State University. It was his first day on campus and he was trying to find his way to the library. He stopped the first person he saw, who happened to be an English professor, and said "Hey, where's the library at?" The professor said, "Young man, this is the University of Iowa, and we speak proper English here. We NEVER end a sentence with a preposition. Now I want you to rephrase your question and then I'll give you an answer.". The student thought a minute, then said, "OK, where's the library at, ***hole?"
