Default Walkable towns?

I currently live in Woodbury and the walkability here is a freaking nightmare...if you don't have a car here, you'll have to walk on the grass and get stared at.

Thinking of going to a technical college in Red Wing, are there any areas around there that are walkable or that at least have a downtown area? Doesn't have to be extensive, something tiny like the downtowns in nearby Eau Claire, Hudson, White Bear Lake, Hastings or Stillwater would be enough to tide me over nightlife-wise. I'm OK with small towns if they're at least walkable.

Red Wing itself is pretty walkable. Northfield would be an option too. Rosemount is very walkable and we have Dakota County Technical College here. Getting to the tech college isn't all that walkable but the rest of the town is. Hastings is another option as well. I guess I am not quite sure what you are asking for, do you want to live in the Red Wing area or just looking for something like that?

well, I'm considering getting a technical degree in musical instrument repair, and the tech college in Red Wing seems to be the only one close to home right now.
