Of course Mickey's downtown is going to be on many peoples list. But not the Mickey's going west on 7th because they are a whole different kind of place.

Depends on what you call home cooking. My favorites are definitely home cooking somewhere, just not in the home I grew up in.

Capitol View Cafe on Smith - Tex Mex omelette

Little Szchuan (University/Western) - real Kung Pao chicken

Key's Cafe on Robert - Egg sandwich

Those are my St. Paul comfort classics off the top of my head...
