People live north of Fargo????
OK - I understand wanting out of California - I do.
But did you throw a dart at the map? Why Fisher? What's there that interests you (or anyone)?
Inquiring minds WANT to know.

Hi
I live in East Grand Forks in Polk county along the Red across from Grand Forks ND. My wife and I work in Grand Forks. Fisher is 15 miles southeast of me on Highway 2....then its about another 10 miles on to Crookston.
Oh come on guys...it isnt Tundra up here Yes this part of MN is certainly way colder than the cities. We have to laugh when they talk about the cold in Minneapolis on the weather channel, knowing we are 20 degrees colder!
But I digress....Altru Hospital in Grand Forks is a growing hospital and the areas second largest employer behind University of North Dakota. There is a hospital in Crookston too, though smaller of course. Fargo has two large hospitals and excellent health care choices. So unless you have something already lined up Altru in Grand Forks or the two hospitals in Fargo (Merit Care and ????) would be your best choice. Fisher itself is a small town of 450 people. It does have its own school K-8 with high school students opting for either Crookston or EGF. It is a nice quiet community with one convenience store and a short distance to either Grand Forks to the west or Crookston to the east. Beware though that Highway 2 can be closed often in the winter due to blowing snow as it is very flat and open between Grand Forks and Crookston...and in blizzard conditions they will close the Highway at East Grand Forks for those eastbound...because if you get stranded in zero vsby and below zero temps not much out there to help you til you get to Crookston.
Any questions please ask.
Dan

Ok I dont know how I got to this page but I had to chime in.I was laughing way too hard.I'm from fisher mn!!!I now live in minneapolis.First off lets get things straight,Fisher is not 20 degrees colder then minneapolis.second,Fisher has a k-12 school.when i graduated in 1994 there were 10 people in my class, since then the schools have open enrollment which has increased the size of class 3 to 4 fold.that brings me to the real point. The reason one would want to live in fisher is the same reason why the school enrollment is way up.and thats beacuase of the paople.comming from fisher I always knew it was different(even from grand forks or crookston)but when i moved to the cities I almost get physically sick.I can't even try to explain the difference. In fisher there will never be a car that passes by you without the driver waving hello to you.If you are a female you will never have to worry about changing a flat tire, neighborhood boys or friend will beat you too it.I lived there for 21years, never locking my car or house once.no one did, didnt have to worry about it.you litterally know everyone in the town and ALL get along.there are no "dirty" yards in fisher. The biggest advantage would be if you have or plan to have children.Fisher is probably one of the last places around that there are no drugs.I soon found this to be quiet different in crookston and grand forks.Comming from cali it might be a big change to pull off the road on the way home and pick dinner out of your nieghbors corn and spud field.I could go on and on I just cant tell you how much of a difference there is in small town minnesota, the quality of people will amaze you and if you dont need the big night life(none to speak of within 4 hour drive)you too will get sick when you travel back to the big city.I wont be back @ this site but if oyou want any info or anything let me know.still have lots of family there.just send me an email jmac@paulbunyan.net
Good luck

I grew up in Crookston and had and have many friends in Fisher. Fisher is a great, friendly town. You are greated with a smile where ever you may go and get a wave, if driving. Friends in Fisher, become family. The people are dependable and really look out for their neighbors! I almost bought a house there years ago, but due to the appraiser and sellers "not" agreeing, I did not purchase it. I would have loved to call Fisher HOME! I believe that with the smaller classrooms, there is more help for students who need it! Now, I know that when you fall ill and need a hand, whether it be a drive to the dr., a supper to be cooked or maybe beets to be hauled, your neighbor in Fisher becomes your brother and/or sister and is there to help with a SMILE! I really like also that it is close to Grand Forks, and the colors in Fall.........Priceless to see!
