Default 2/3 of state under "Air Pollution Advisory"

MyFox Twin Cities | Air Pollution Advisory for Two-Thirds of State Until Saturday

Hmmm, maybe more people should be biking to work instead of driving

I wish I could, Slig, but it's 27 miles one way right now for me and I don't think I could survive work once I got there!

That link says it's related to "building humidity." I'm trying to figure out: does that mean the A/C from buildings is causing this (if so, maybe A/C's are the culprits?), or that the humidity is gradually increasing (in which case, I wish it would rain instead). We really could use the rain!

All that means is warm air can hold more humidity and there's a lot of warm air about. The humidity comes from natural sources, mainly, although there is some concern about the increase in water vapor produced by modern corn hybrids - all vegetation transpires water vapor to the atmosphere as well as carbon dioxide, and the warm air holds it.

Relief is in sight: http://www.cpc.noaa.gov/products/glo...tn72658_30.gif shows a 0.2 degree Celcius drop in the seasonal temperature average over the past week, so we've just started the downswing. Just think of this as "early winter", just like six months from now it will be "early summer" :P

I agree with this to a certain extent. Urban sprawl needs to stop.

Try carpooling, public transportation....there are cleaner ways to make your daily commute.

Slig, I live in the part of the Cities that has very little public transportation at this time (which is why my hubby and I are on a voluntary committee trying to get better public transportation throughout the entire Metro area). If I did drive about 4-6 miles, I could get to my current place of work after 2 hours and 4 transfers. Unfortunately, I also work off-shifts, so there is no public transportation coming anywhere near my home or employer at the end of my shift. And my attempts thus far for car-pooling have failed to turn up a match. So I'm opting for a job change and am currently in the middle of a job search.

So, yes, I am part of the problem; but I'm also trying to be part of the solution too!
