Winona question (Rochester: school, living in, restaurants)

Anyone living in Winona that is familiar with what is around St. Mary's? One of the teachers at DD's golf school has been putting in some extra time helping DD and I wanted to get him a gift card. I was thinking gas station or Target. I think he has a car but not positive. What is close to St. Mary's that he could use--Target, Super America, Holiday? Thanks.

St. Mary's is on the west side of town, on Highway 14, heading to Rochester. About half a mile from St. Mary's, where Highway 14 and Highway 61 (which runs the length of Winona) intersect, is a large Shopko, JC Penney, Golden China Chinese Restaurant plus a second restaurant (but it has changed ownership over the years and I don't remember what it is now). On the east side of Winona, along Highway 61 on the way to LaCrosse (we're only talking about 2 miles) is a Walmart, Target and Fleet Farm. There is also a nice restaurant called Green Mill Restaurant near the Fleet Farm.

If you aren't sure whether the golf pro drives, Golden China Chinese Restaurant would be the safest bet (about half a mile walk from St. Mary's). I've eaten there many times and they have good food, plus lots of lunch specials.
