Default Schools

Im moving to the Minneopolis/St.Paul region from Michigan.

I have a few questions regarding high schools surronding the area.

What high school is the biggest?

What is the smallest high school?

What high school has the best baseball team?

What high school has the best football team?

What high school was the worst baseball team?

Worst football team?

What high school has the best preforming arts?

What high school is the best for extra cirruclars?

What high school has the best test scores?

The only one that is very consistent on that list right now is the Eden Prairie has the best football program. It is the largest high schools in the state too. I would say the most consistently 'best' baseball team is Cretin-Derham Hall (a private Catholic school), but that might change now that some of the open enrollment laws have changed.

Smallest high school--St. Anthony maybe?

Worst at anything changes from year to year. Rosemount used to be the team everyone wanted to play for homecoming in football and now they are one of the top rated teams in the state. Stillwater used to be THE football powerhouse, now they struggle to be .500. It all comes down to the coaching. When Mike Grant leaves Eden Prairie to coach at St. John's University I doubt they will be the powerhouse they are now.

Which performing arts do you want to know about? Theater--most of the better districts around the metro have pretty comprehensive theater programs generally putting on a fall play, one-act play in the winter and a spring musical. If you want the best band program, Rosemount.

Best test scores in what-ACT/SAT/State Testing. MN is very unique where you can honestly say that it is easier to list the few not so good districts vs then listing the 'best'.

Where will you be working. It is easier to narrow down where you should go by that. If you are working in Stillwater, it makes no sense living in Eden Prairie or if you are working in Eagan, you don't want to live in Wayzata.

Well, the Minneapolis - St. Paul Metropolitan area is huge, it has well over 100 High Schools. To name a few: Park Center, Andover, Anoka, Coon Rapids, Blaine, Mounds View, Spring Lake Park, Fridley, Totino Grace, Brooklyn Center, Maple Grove, Osseo, Centennial, Rogers, Armstrong, Cooper, Colombia Heights, Tartan, S. St. Paul, Jefferson, Kennedy, Lakeville N, Lakeville S, Buffalo, Elk River, St. Louis Park, Park CG, Wayzata, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Edina, Mahtomedi, Hill Murray, Richfield, SImly, Henry Sibley, Richfield, St. Thomas Academy, Eden Prairie, White Bear Lake, Eagan, Apple Valley, Eastview, Forest Lake, Roseville, Burnsville, Chaska, Stillwater, Woodbury, St. Michael-Albertville, Shakopeee...Not to mention the many I missed, private schools, and the high schools within St. Paul and Minneapolis proper...

There are many, many high schools.

The largest in terms of enrollment would have to be schools like Burnsville, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Lakeville's...etc.

The smallest is easy to find out. The further away from Minneapolis or St Paul you are, the smaller the high schools. Also private schools are smaller in enrollment.

Best baseball team? I used to play baseball through high school, but high school baseball in Minnesota hardley ever produces dynasties or powerhouses. There are a few schools that can be good from time to time. Maple Grove, Chaska, Cretin Durham Hall, Eastview, Minnetonka are pretty good.

Best Football team? Eden Prairie..Mounds View...

Some of the best schools in my opinion would be Mounds View, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Lakeville (s), St Michael Albertville, Wayzata, Stillwater.. All are faily large sized schools, have great academics, and athletics.

You probably want to look at Eden Prairie, Wayzata or Hopkins. Why commute when you don't have to. If you have football players that want to play high school ball they have to be at the top of their game if they want to play at EP. They probably get 400+ kids out for their football program.

In general you could look for the largest suburbs, they usually have the biggest and best sports programs. The private catholic schools also do well. Lots easier to field a good team when you have a couple hundred kids trying out.

Although St. Johns is a wonderful school, I severly LOATH that University. LOATH, LOATH, LOATH.
From my general consensus, the people I have met there are snoods, rich pricks whose parents pay for their college, that tromp around Collegeville and St Joeseph and disrespect the locals. Dont confuse generic smiles for genuine a-holes.
They also name their student houses.- Like..The Icebox, and so and so. LAME..
They also party in 2 hole in the wall bars and think they are lving the life.
I guess its my Husky pride
Huskies and Johnnies dont get along. Its funny.
you can point out a group of St Johns Kids and St CLoud kids like THAT in a public setting like Crossroads.

Hey, I wasnt trying to deliberatly put anyone down-Like I said-Its a very prestegious school and highly respected school. Not to mention a gorgeous campus. However, a couple Johnnies have rubbed me the wrong way over the years.
