knke0402, I am from Northern New Jersey, I did live down the shore for about 3 years as well. My hometown is a small suburban town, everyone knowing everyone kind of thing. I honestly really don't care much for the hustle and bustle of cities so it amazes people who always ask me about NYC and who love NYC when I let them know that it's really not my thing.

Everyone else, I really appreciate all of your input. It definitely helps me out.

Slig, I'm looking at a media studies program. I'm currently a communications major with a concentration in media studies and radio production and minor in classical studies. I want to get my MA and hopefully teach at a college somewhere and move on to get my PhD at some point. That's the plan anyway

i loved living in the cities as far as the cities are concerned and the U is a good program and will open up your local network

however, before you invest that much time and money starting a program, visit there this winter

spend a week

it's much more severe than anything in NJ and definitely isn't for everyone

Sounds like a good plan. I don't know anything about that particular program but the U generally has a very good reputation in these parts. We are forced to achieve in academics since the sports teams aren't that good

I have relatives in Wayne, NJ if that is anywhere near where you are. You will find MN to be very similar to that area, except we have a different accent . Obviously Minneapolis itself is larger, more urban, but the suburban areas around Minneapolis are very similar. I think you would feel very much at home in this area.

Golfgal, I actually know Wayne very well. My boyfriend lives very close to Wayne -

Again, I thank you all for your input and your help! It's much appreciated.
