Marijuana. Legalization? Acceptance?
Well, I'm going to start another controversial thread.
Marijuana? Legal or no?
I believe that Marijuana isn't a drug. I believe that it should be more socially acceptable, but as far as Minnesota goes, it is fairly accepted. I'm sure most of us have tried it or still smoke it.
As someone who knows handfuls of people my age who have been beaten down by DWIs, and DUIs. Also, many people who have gotten themselves in other troubles because of booze- fights, arguments, falling over, hangovers, and even car accidents and death. However, I have never met someone who has gotten in trouble because of Marijuana. Actually, I did know someone who got cited for a bag of weed, but it was merely a traffic citation at most.
Weed gets a bad rap. 15 yr olds whose parents dont know how to parent give pot a bad rap.
Smoking a joint will mellow you out. Relieve stress. Relax you. Gives better perception to emotions.
Yes, makes you lazy and stupid- but that is after constant excessive use. I would go as far as comparing marijuana to coffee.
Half of America is doped up on something. Just because its an Rx doesnt mean its good for you. There are so many RXs that are more harmful than marijuana, but somehow because you get it at a pharmacy, then its ok. Read and watch the chemicals put into some of that stuff.
Im not saying that legalize marijuana so that eveyrone can walk around with tie die shirts on and red eyes and sing campfire songs. Im saying it should be more socially acceptable and that law should prosecute those with large large amounts and not focus so much on the little incidents.

You just wrote about how smoking is so disgusting and expensive, and then write a rave about marijuana? Marijuana is kinda, sorta more expensive than cigarettes by the way. I don't know what side of you to agree with, so I'll agree with the side of you presented on this thread.

Any fool that thinks that marijuana isn't a dangerous drugs needs to Google the name "Michael Gagnon". Last year after Xmas, while driving stoned and drunk out of his mind, he drove on the wrong side of the highway for 4 miles before killing 5 people in a head on crash ( 4 children and their mother). Mr. Michael Gagnon is now serving a 43 year prison sentence in Ohio. Perhaps you should send him a pen pal note and ask him how he now feels about how "harmless' marijuana is.

Give me an interesting story.
One that involves someone being Incredibly stoned and hurting someone. not incredibly stoned AND drunk.

Yeah, Cigarettes are disgusting and expensive.
$5 for 20 cigarettes that last a day? thats expensive.
Also, cigarettes are loaded with artificial elements, like rat poison and others horrible additives that kill.
Weed is a plant provided by mother nature. Its dried and consumed without adding things that make it addictive and deadly.
Thats the difference.

Thats the thing with people who are "anti-marijuana" They believe that it is the sole cause of harm. As a guy was drunk and stoned out of his mind? Im sure the weed really made an impact as he was already completely trashed. Sorry, weed doesnt make you act like alcohol does. Alcohol makes you make dumb decisions. It makes you less aware of your surroundings. Weed does the opposite. Weed only slows down rapid resposnse time,so in other words if someone throws a football at you from a close proximity, you may react a little slower than usual. Thats all. Plus, if you were completely high, your naturual reaction would not be Driving. if you were really really high, your body would be too lazy to drive. and even if you were really really high, it wouldnt impare your judgement so far to make you drive on the wrong side of the road.

Have you ever brought your own, or do you just bum it off friends? A $5 pack of cigarettes has nothing on the price of your weed.
Tobacco is also a plant provided by mother nature. If you cut your weed with "rat poison and other horrible additives that kill" it would also be loaded with artificial elements too.

Having lived in the Netherlands where it was allowed I think marijuana should be legalized here in the US. I for one don’t smoke so it isn’t for personal reasons. I just don’t see how getting stoned is any different from getting drunk. You never hear about anyone getting stoned on weed and getting into fights or causing domestic disturbances like you do with alcohol.
I think if we allowed it we could regulate the sale of weed and make it safer and tax it, which could bring in a pretty hefty sales tax that we could use in this economic climate. It may also have a positive effect on decreasing the dealers who are currently selling weed. There is currently a large amount of money and police presence being used to control the illicit sale of weed that could be used elsewhere.

The price in the Netherlands was way cheaper for better stuff from what I heard. I think it was 20 Euros for about 5 grams, which would cost way more here.
