Default schools in area of anoka, ramsey, Maple Grove, Elk River and Andover

My family is moving to Minnesota from Indiana. I would like advice on which school systems, particularly high schools are good before we begin to look for houses. My husband will be working between Ramsey and Maple Grove. We'd like to be within a reasonable driving distance.

Well there is Anoka High School, Maple Grove High School, Elk River High School, and Andover High School.

Andover High School is about 5 years old, both the building and the school.
Maple Grove High School is about 10 years old
Elk River Area High School and Anoka are both fairly old.

They are probably all similar in enrollment size.

Elk River Area High School is best known for its Hockey Program. Academically, Maple Grove is probably the best, they are known for having a college preparatory style of education. Anoka is a great school with a great history.

I would choose either Andover or Maple Grove. With MG you get a little bit more snoody, upper class kind of attitudes, where many kids drive their daddys BMWs and other shiny cars to school.

Neither of them are bad, and they alll have about the same enrollment. The best is MG, the worst probably Anoka or ER

Maple Grove is one of the higher rated schools in the state. I would start there. Andover would be my second choice. Anoka is having some pretty substantial financial problems so that might be an issue down the road.

I am a 2000 graduate of Anoka High School and will NOT be sending my kids there.
