Does anyone else notice the typical Minnesotan has a certain look and manner?
I do not live in Minnesota now but when I return there to visit family and friends I run into so many people that are so typically Minnesotan. I find these typical Minnesotan people are usually from a Scandinavian or German Background and have a distinct look manner, bearing, walk and approach to life that is unique to the five state region.
Sure, Minnesota has some people who are from somewhere else but there is still that core group that sets the tone for the State. My wife who is not from Minnesota spots it right away and when there is stories in the national news where they interview Minnesota people she can spot them right away even if she did not hear right away that the people were Minnesotans.
I think the Minnesota culture, look and approach to life is the most distinct of people from anywhere in America. Your thoughts.

SO are you reffering to the hard working, steadfastly dependable do or die work ethic or the walking around in a t-shirt when it's -30 or the bumrush to the luteafisk feed ???

Or are you referring to the pride in our heritage, or the loyalty to family and friends, or the open honesty were you will hear just what thoughts are going through a persons mind?
I am curious how the walk is distinctive. The accent of course, but please explain the walk. Unless you are talking about heads being held high because there is that open, honest quality that leaves little room for shadiness, and chests puffed with pride from the feeling of acomplishment that comes from the afore mention work ethic.

Hmmmm. My best friend and I both consider ourselves "typical Minnesotans;" but she is a lanky 5'10", strawberry-blonde, blue-eyed, and (to me at least) she strides when she walks. I, on the other hand, am 5'4", with brown haired and brown eyes, and am always sort of running to catch up with her when we walk together. I don't see anything about us that superficially looks alike!
We are both professionals with good educations and hard-working and have a can-do attitude, however.

I think we do kind of scurry around at a rather brisk pace. I've been to some states where everyone seems to move soooooosssslllllooooowwwwww. Maybe I'm just in a hurry all the time.......

I may have to agree
I not 100% sure or I do not know specifics. But seems to me that Minnesotans are something different than other parts of the country. I like that something different though, and thats one reason for me not to move out of MN

Approach to life, ha! You mean the liberal Democrats who put us in $5 Billion dollars in debt by raising our taxes during the recession? Raised sales taxes on gas, clothes and food... so the poor of our state can suffer more. Ya You betchya, Minnesota Nice (only to other liberals). This state is going downhill fast. I grew up here. The people are jerks if you tell them you are Conservative.

One thing I love is being cooped up in a fish house and waiting for that BIG fish. I think Minnesota is fast paced. I also think we are reserved in a way but not too much. Maybe because I have lived here my whole life I dont think to look for certain things. Minnesota is great and quality of life is good. What more can you ask for? We still dont pay taxes on clothes.
