Default moving to Baxter area

While my husband is deployed in Iraq, he's thinking about applying to jobs at Camp Ripley. If we moved it would be to Little Falls, Baxter, Brainerd, Pillager or one of the towns nearby. Could anyone give me any information about these communities? How are the schools, crime rate, etc. We currently live in Nebraska and I'm excited to move to a new area, but would like some information about them first. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

They are all fairly small towns, Brainerd being the largest and probably the better schools of the list. Brainerd is also a very popular tourist town in the summers, many, many resorts so keep that in mind but of the list you gave, it would probably be my #1 choice, Little Falls being second. Baxter and Pillinger are very small and won't have much for conveniences.

The crime rate in that part of the state is very low. Mostly you will see things like stolen bikes or a bar brawl.

It is a very beautiful part of the state, pine forrests cover much of the area.

It really doesn't matter, it really depends on what you want from your hotel. There are many, many hotels/motels/resorts in the area and one town isn't any better then the other for a hotel stay. They are only a few miles apart.

Default Brainerd Area

Brainerd/baxter are pretty much the same town. everything is in baxter, newer developements. all the shops and stores. brainerd is a larger town, same school district. There is a lot of jobs and work up in area. Pillager is only a few miles to the west. very small, quiet town with good school too.

LIttle Falls is very nice and is closer to the main entrance to Camp Ripley and is a very military friendly town there are alot of new developements in the town dispite what everyone is saying about the brainerd school district its now having major cuts and are losing alot of programs and teachers but the Little Falls school distict is doing very well they have probably the best financial status in mid minnesota because almost every referendum failed in the surrounding areas Little Falls also has a very nice downtown with the good old town feel but there are alot of newer commercial developements to the east and residential developments to the west and industrail to the north the ecomomy of the town is also doing very well and there are plenty of new jobs
