Question Dakota versus Washington county

Hello,

I wonder what folks think of living in either Dakota or Washington counties? Is one county more generous than the other? Does one county offer more library story hours, wonderful parks, beautiful bike/walking trails, free areas to launch your canoes, covered picnic areas, etc.? Does anyone have an idea if tax rates are significantly lower in one county? Does one county seem better managed than the other? I guess that what I'm asking is, are there many differences from one county to the next in Minnesota and, specifically, much of a difference in Dakota and Washington counties? We're considering retiring to the southern suburbs of Minneapolis and I'm trying to get a feel of the area. Thank you for any insight.

Mari

There is very little difference between Washington county and Dakota County. Washington might have a few more parks but there is nothing stopping you from using them if you live in Dakota Co-you buy a park pass as needed either way. Taxes are roughly the same and vary from city to city. Having lived in both counties I never noticed any difference between the two.
