Hi Minnesotans,

My family is moving soon to MN. My work will be in Minnetonka (zip code 55343) and I'd like to live within 15minutes drive of work.
Please share your thoughts on great places to live for a quiet family with elementary school children.

TIA!

I would live right in Minnetonka otherwise Wayzata or Hopkins.

Yup, I'd also add Plymouth to the list but for school's sake I'd stick with the areas of Plymouth that are in the Wayzata or Hopkins school districts.

It depends on how much money you have to spend. That whole area is pretty nice, Minnetonka itself is known as one for good school districts and money. If your budget isn't on the higher side I'd recommend Hopkins, good schools but you can stretch your dollar a bit further.

All of this will also depend on your price range, whether you want to rent or buy, if you want to be in a single family home, condo, townhouse and other preferences, urban, suburban or rural, old neighborhood or new neighborhood, diverse or non-diverse, near lakes, rivers, etc.

thanks everyone. Well, we are looking into private schools and the ones of choice so far are in Bloomington. I noticed however that Bloomington houses are much more pricey, so we may have to live further north. Since we are moving from a lower cost region, Hopkins sounds attractive per Kebinminn's suggestion.

We will be looking to rent a single family home (buy later but not immediately), prefer new neighborhoods with young families.

Please keep the thoughts flowing

One more thing, we are moving from an area of close to ZERO CRIME rate. Would like to keep it that way!

Most suburban areas in the Twin Cities would be relatively crime-free. It's a fairly sheltered metro area as far as that goes, which I think is good.
