Staples is pretty close to Motley.
Deer hunting is good around there.
It's definitly not anywhere near the Twin Cities. It's very rural. But beautiful in the summer, nonetheless. If you're into boating, fishing, hunting, small town, nature life, then there should not be a problem.
Renting is probably very cheap. Jobs are probably another story. You probably can find a job, but not one you would totally enjoy. What are you qualifications? Interests? Brainerd and Baxter have jobs, but I would assume much would be either retail or manufacturing to some service type jobs.

Cool,
I am really big on the fishing, hunting, ect. so that's a big plus for me. I am not very picky on my jobs as long as I have one I am happy. I am looking into getting my bar tenders license and hope to have some luck with getting a job more along those lines, but if not I'll take anything. As of right now I am working in a factory so I'm used to the hole manufacturing ordeal. Things are getting very tough around hear and I hope they are so much better there. I'm getting pretty excited about going to Staples now that I have talked to people about it. I thank every one for all there help and information. If any one else has more information for me I am more than happy to take any that anybody has to offer me.

Small town America
Ha. When I read you were terrified, I thought “ so was I!” but for different reasons then you. I went to school at Central Lakes College, and as a female I was outnumbered by about 9 to 1. Which was OK if you were single...
Pretty much a party/college town concentrating on “guy trades” like heavy equipment operating.
When you said you were going to be looking for a job, I also felt a little sorry for you...but then you mentioned bar tending, and that definitely changes your employment out look. No shortages of bars or places serving alcohol.
As far as renting, I rented a place right away like in May or June, because I assumed there would be a lot of college kids looking for a place since there aren’t any dorms. Start early and ask at the College.
Good Luck!

I pass through Staples often enough, but not as often as the empire builder, Amtrak. Yeah that is a nice little area, some what convenient to the Brainerd Baxter area where civilization is accessable, don'cha know? Glad you got a chance to see it before the big move, I wasn't as lucky and the LONG drive from Wisconsin was a real drain. At least you know what to expect. Highway 10 there goes from the St Cloud area where it's a jump down to get to the Twin Cities, all the way over to Fargo. The highway doesn't change much from town to town but you'll soon know it. Cheapest gas is up my way in Sebeka. There is a great BBQ Place there near Staples, I'll remember the name soon as I hit Post.

Hi there. My name's Jeremy and I too will be moving to Staples along with my girlfriend in August. We're looking for a place to rent, so if you have any leads, I'd be grateful to get them. Thanks!
