Staples, MN?
Hi everyone,
I am new to this site and I have looked every were on the computer to try to find some thing about Staples MN. I am wondering if someone could please tell me something about Staples. I am a country girl from Wisconsin and my boyfriend and I are moving there in august so he can go to Central Lakes College and I am scared to death to go. I know nothing about how it there or what it is like. So if someone can please tell me something about it I would be so great full. Thanks so much

Here's some general info:
Staples, Minnesota - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I drive through Staples on HWY 10 on the way to the family cabin. It's a tiny town with very little of note. The town's police is notorious for setting up speed traps for the people passing through. I don't know what you would be terrified about unless you're greatest fear is getting hit by tumbleweeds on a windy day.

By "cities" I'll assume you're referring to Minneapolis/St. Paul. Staples is several hours northwest of the Twin Cities. It's probably more similar to your Wisconsin countryland than it is different.

Staples is a one more small town in Minnesota. It's about a half hour from me. If I want to catch AMTRAK, That is where I'd go. Staples population is just over 3000, so it's not huge in any way shape or form. Heck, you are still a ways from even St Cloud.
Residents of Staples go to Brainerd Baxter area for shopping etc... Staples is a small town period. Have no fear. It is nothing like Milwaukee. While Sheldon is but a couple hundered residents, Staples will only seem bigger, it isn't really large in any sense of the word.

Thanks so much!
Wat about jobs?? How easy is it going to be to get a job around the area? Like in Baxter and other close areas? We are also looking to rent when we move there. Are there a lot of places that have apartments to rent from? Thanks so much for your help. I feel so much better! I'm not so sick to stomach to go now. lol.

You should have NO problem finding a rental property there. Chances are you can even find one to rent with an option to purchase. That type of agreement can vary from property to property but it's something that isn't all too comon around the rest of the country.
Job ways, there is always going to be some options open to you. The econony isn't as rough in Minnesota as it is around the rest of the country. Help wanted adds aren't the only options either. Small towns are word of mouth kind of communications processes so you'll want to ask around too.
What is your time frame for the move? When do you anticipate doing so?

COOL!!!
Finding a job around hear is sooo hard to do . We are planing to move in the beging of august because josh starts school in the beging of september. That way we will have time to get jobs, a place, and get things together. We will be heading that way to check Staples out for the weekend as soon as we get our taxes back, to look around the area and try to become a little more familiar with the area.

Maybe the college will have some jobs available. While I know absolutely nothing about Staples - it's so small I had never even heard of it (don't worry, like someone said, it will be NOTHING like Milwaukee)- colleges of any size need a lot of support staff. It sounds like it's in the middle of lake cabin/resort country, so maybe there will be some tourism jobs out there. You could also try checking out the county's website (and also their tourism website); from there you can identify top local employers, then go directly to the their websites and see if they have a designated "job opportunies" page. Bookmark them all, and check back all the time as it gets close to your move. Sometimes people will post things on their sites that they don't bother putting in the paper. After you've moved you can tell everyone you meet that you're looking and available.
