They also view themselves as a sovereign nation not under the jurisdiction of the State of MN, thus their own license plates. You might recall that during the school shooting in Red Lake a few years ago, the FBI responded due to the jurisdiction issues. All this to say that they aren't going to roll over and come under any jurisdiction of Canada.
The original poster here is joking. What benefit would there be for say either country? The Boarder Patrol would have expand by 100% just to watch each entry point or they would need to fence in the entire state. Come to think of it, for what reason would any of this become reality?

Don't bother pulling any punches...

I don't understand where this perception of Canada comes from, but it certainly is not based in reality. Canada's ratio of debt to GDP is much lower than that of the United States, and it is less than half of the average for G8 nations. Further, Canada hasn't run a deficit in well over 10 years. And we fund universal health care. It may not be perfect, but I've never had to wait more than a half hour in an emergency room before being seen by a physician, and it's never cost me a dollar out of pocket.

That doesn't sound like a 'spineless liberal quagmire where nothing happens'. And the Quebec sovereignty issue is way over blown. It was a big deal back in 1994- but no one, outside the hard core separatists, have made any significant overtures since then. In fact, Quebec's separatists have been falling out of favour within Quebec's provincial politics over the past decade. Canada has maintained a substantial military force in Afghanistan since shortly after the initial invasion of Afghanistan, and has a commitment to keep troops there until at least 2011. Outside of England, what other country has made that sort of commitment to the United States?

Sorry for going off topic, but seriously you are way off base.

I'm not exactly sure but I would say austrailia and the dutch? Everyone in the US thankful for the commitment Canada has given too the US in the afghan war. I would say for everyone that is pulling their weight in afghanistan it is getting quite annoying having france and germany not wanting to take on a more combat active role.

I think you're right about the Aussies and the Dutch. But I agree with you, I'm thoroughly tired of the French and the Germans for not helping out with major combat. It would even be an improvement if the Germans and French would just agree to fund the war effort even if they don't want to send their own troops there. The Canadian Army uses the same tanks that the German army does- so they should loan some out. And if the French don't want to put their troops in harms way, what about some close air support?

All I know is by REFUSING to join the Iraq War of Dubya, they were being a good friend by sending a message that this expedition is a BAD idea. Sadly Dubya did not listen and look at the mess Barry has to clean up!
