Minnesota as a Canadian Province?
Do you think it will fit in well with the rest of Canada or will it be out of place? All you Minny people (those who actually have a real exposure to Canada) explain to me your thoughts on the subject...

Part Of MN is Already In Canada
Part of MN is already in Canada....The Northwest Angle. You have to drive through or go by boat to get to this beautiful island. Being part of Canada is something that I've thought about.

Eeek! Part of Canada?
If those of in Minnesota were to become Canadian citizens would that mean that we'd have to start paying up to 50% in taxes on our income? And would we get Canadian health cards, allowing us to free health care, but deciding that to wait 6 months to receive treatment for cancer is too long to wait so we'd head over to, say Wisconsin?
I've lived in Canada (Ottawa) for 4 years and loved it but, I'm not willing to give up my American citizenship. Now, if you're thinking about changing the borders of Canada, why not consider having Quebec secede? Oh, wait a minute, they tried that already and weren't successful.

Not sure I like the CFL, but I'm sure hockey and curling fans would approve.
Of course, we'd have to start measuring more things in metric (and convert all of the road signs, etc.), and gas prices would skyrocket.

Heh, couple weeks ago I was listening to PHC and Guy Noir was hired by Norm Coleman to go to Biwabik to look for a Canadian conservative who rigged the vote. Parts of it were funnier than all getout if you "get" ranger behavior even a bit.

NW Angle is actually not an island. The entire NW angle is part of Lake of the Woods County and there are several islands as well as the land mass that extends inward from the west shore across the border of US and Canada. The border is a North/South line from the very NW portion of Lake of the Woods to the 49th Parallel which chops of a chunk of land and several islands.
Interestingly, there was some talk in the mid 90s of this chunk of land becoming part of Canada due to fishing regulations that frustrated residents and a bill was brought forth to allow those residents to vote on this. Red Lake Ojibwa owns significant portion of the angle and they were opposed to this idea.

It's the probably the most "nordic" of all the states. I lived there for many years. A lot of folks told me that they thought that MSP was pretty similar to Toronto.
