Suggestions - where to look?
Hi,
I'm relocating to MN and hoping for some suggestions about towns to look at for buying a home. I'll be working in Minneapolis, and would like to find find a home and a lot past the suburbs.
We don't have any kids, so schools are not an issue. Mainly what we're looking for is a small, affordable house (150-200k) on decent size lot with more than 10 feet separating us from out neighbors kitchen wall (.25 acres or more) and within an hour's commuting distance to Minneapolis. A more rural than suburban setting.
I'm not even sure if this is possible but thought I'd see if I could get any ideas from some of the residents who frequent this forum. Thanks in advance for any help!
Best Regards,
Mike

Are you going to be in Downtown Minneapolis or where exactly. A lot of companies list Minneapolis as their address yet they are actually in a suburb. That would help us give you some suggestions. You will probably be able to find what you are looking for we just need to know where to start.

Thanks,

I would start looking in Waconia, Norwood-Young America, Jordan, Belle Plaine, Shakopee (maybe--probably more expensive then you are thinking), and maybe as far out as Glenco. You should be able to find something in your price range in these towns if you are willing to drive that far.
Farmington might be a possibility too--not sure if the prices meet your specifications but the yard size will.
