I have been traveling in this area for business for 30 years. I can tell you Granite Falls would be the town that I would move to if I had a family. Beautiful community with the Minnesota River running through it. Very friendly people. Marshall is less than 30 miles away if you need a bigger community to shop in. Also, Montevidea is less than 20 miles away to the northwest.

Marshall is a nice clean community for it's size as others have posted, but it has got to be the most boring town of it's size that has a college located in it I've ever seen. Moving there over Granite Falls won't spice up your life that much. The commute from Granite Falls to Marshall to attend classes is pretty easy. Hwy. 23 is a very good road between the towns and the campus is on the edge of Marshall right on the highway. You can also live in the little town of Cottonwood which is approx. 7 miles outside of Marshall and is a very friendly, cute community.

I've spent much less time in Wilmer, but this town don't impress me as being anything special. Besides, the college is not a 4 year college.

Aleea Thein is on a distinguished road
i live in montevideo and i love it, i think it is a great place to live if you want to live down here. It is a smaller community but still has a very nice hospital and many other places to go and things to do. But, if you are still trying to deside between marshall and willmar i would pick willmar. it has many more things to do than marshall.
