Default Young guys in MPLS

Hey everybody, 4 or 5 of us guys are just graduating from college and all have jobs lined up in downtown minneapolis. we'd like have a quick busride downtown while still being able to rent for cheap (400-600). we're looking to also be in a good neighborhood. we found a place in Columbia Heights but we dont know much about that area. Is that an alright/safe place to live? let me know any suggestions. thanks.

This isn't the part of the city that i'm most familar with, but it is a safe area. Alot of post-war bungalows. The Heights Theater is nice. If you are near Central or University the bus ride should be quick and easy to downtown. Hopefully somebody else can add to this. I always thought of it as the Saint Louis Park of Northeast.

I have heard that Hilltop is high crime but other areas around Columbia could be OK. Good luck with your new jobs and homes!
