You scew the statistics like a news report!! Are you in media?? It is more correct to compare a zero degree day with a windchill of -10 to a 102 degree day with a heat index of 116. When these extemes happen in either place, the majority of the population stays indoors in the heat/air.

How about we compare the crime/education/health care statistics! You know...the things that truly matter.

Absolutely. I like the crisp cold air between -5F and -15F or so w/o windchill, and I like the feeling of frost accumulating in my beard as I'm walking to/from my car into work. I like driving in snow, and I like the huge difference that winter in the north makes. Trees don't just lose their leaves -- everything gets buried in snow (or at least loosely covered) for an entire season.

That's completely insane.
No, it's the opinion of someone who grew up with four real seasons and who finds that he really misses one of them. Winter.

Three months of summer is enough for me. It's almost six months long down here, or maybe seven. I don't like having to mow my fescue lawn in January when I should be out chopping the ice on my sidewalk.

-38F w/o windchill only happens once in a couple of decades. Temps down to -20F or so don't bother me particularly, though cars and such start becoming unhappy. While I enjoy summertime to a point, I would gladly trade the extra three months of GA summer I see down here for a three-month-long MN winter. Teach these southerners a thing or two about real weather. :-) And as someone else said, the fact that a real winter kills off pests such as termites and fire ants is actually a real plus. The flowers down here are pretty, but that doesn't mean very much when your house is being turned into sawdust by the local wildlife...

We all know every region has its draw backs when it comes to weather. Minnesota summers can't be beat.

Nov and March are bad agreed, and October and April can be bad. I've only lived in the SE part of the state bordering Iowa, but believe that the other parts are colder. Even so, Nov and March used to drive me crazy, and April ( especially when there is snow). October in MN in the southeast part pf the state can be warm and lovely or cold and miserable where it rains for days on end ( or so it seems), the wind howls, and the leaves show little color.

On the other hand, it can be warm, no rain, just this lovely late autumn sun and the trees can just flame into color. I like it better the second way, obviously, and when it's like that it is heaven. The weather in Northeast Iowa is about the same, so although I no longer live in SE MN, it isn't much different in IA.

While the rest of the country is enjoying warm sunny weather in April and October it can be very cold in Minnesota. It can be below freezing for a high temperature as late as April 20th and as early as October 10th. After a long cold winter that can be very discouraging.
No way! After 10 years in Minnesota I can confidently say that January-March are the worst times to be in Minnesota. April and October are not fantastic, but they are a piece of cake in comparison.

Well, I think people expect January-March to be bad, but may not expect April/October to be that way. That makes them the worst months because the weather should be nice, and it sometimes isn't.

I'd say mid December to Mid March is the best time to be in Minnesota because of all the great skiing. Next is late August and September when the air is cool and you can crawl into your sleeping bag without feeling clammy.
