I moved to Minneapolis from South Carolina and, other than the winters, I love every second.

Stop dreaming....MN is no different than Indiana. My husband and I moved here 10 years ago from SW Michigan, near the Indiana line. The winters are hard and expensive. The jobs are few and far between, and you won't make as much as you do in Indiana. The state is very, very tight with their money, and very high in taxes. The hightest in the states. Unless your bedridden, forget getting any state aid. And don't look for help starting up a business unless you want your entire bank roll to go to inspections.
If you move to MN, move here for the right reasons. Don't look to make friends, we have only made 2 good, good friends here after meeting many. Most of the people are not trusting. Especially of tourists. The friendly ones are the ones that want your money.
But, we love the forest and the waters here. Lots of wildlife and fishing.
Good Luck
Susie

Why would anybody want to move to such a cold, desolate place?? Your'e better off in Indiana, especially being so close to Indianapolis.

MN is a very cold place in the winter but it's beautiful and there is always something to do. Now the closer you to live to MPLS the better obviously but I grew up there and i am going to move back in a couple of months and i am very excited.

The Twin Cities is a nice part of the state, but not the best part of the state. Minnesota, to me, has a lot to offer from small farming towns, to mining communtiites, to the Port of Duluth and the North Shore, to the Minnesota River valley and Bluff Country near Hastings down to Winona. There is a lot to do here, and yes we have high taxes, but we also enjoy a high quality of life.

Re-read my post because that's exactly what I said.
Less people have the accent towards the Twin Ciites, and further north you get, the accent is thicker.
Not denying anything. Everyone has their regional dialect, its nearly impossible not to have one. My friends from MN moved to Houston 2 years ago and they now have a southern twang. It is what it is..
Im just saying, around the Twin Cities, and even for my generation, its becoming less and less

Jobs few and far between? Because you live in Remer, obviously. Go to the metro area and there are plenty of available jobs. The Twin Cities are known for their great job market. Remer Mn is no different than anyother secluded hole-in the wall towns.

No Thanks! What...move to the murder capital of the states??? They didn't call it "Murderopolis" for nothing! And just because it's in the "cities", that doesn't mean that there are more jobs there -
If the "natives" are unfriendly here, I got a taste of them in the cities when I had to drive through there - worst traffic I've ever been in! And I learned to drive in Detroit!
