Cambridge, MN: what's it like to live there?
My husband and I are thinking of eventually relocating to MN. Stopped in Cambridge one day a year ago and it seemed like a nice community. How is it? What do you like/dislike about it? Many retirees there?

Cambridge is a nice community. Quiet, and peaceful. Probably not a huge retirement haven because of the weather and MN's taxes but all and all it would be doable. Housing is reasonable. I would encourage you to spend a few weeks there in the Winter or rent first to make sure you can deal with the cold, snow, and ice.

Are Minnesota's property taxes higher than in most states? I'm familiar with WA and NM. Does MN have a State income tax?
Renting's a good idea at first--if pets are accepted! Not too worried about snow, cold, and ice. How are the heating bills? Most folks use electric? propane? natural gas?

Natural gas is the most common but there are rural areas around Cambridge where heating oil or propane are still used. Last winter my highest heating bill for a 3000sf house was about $400. Yes, MN has a state income tax. Overall MN is one of the more expensive states for taxes. There are lots of places for rent now so you would be able to find something reasonable.

Uff da. Was hoping to move to a state without State income tax. $400/ mo is about what we pay Jan/Feb. in NM. Thanks for the info.

What about Meth? I live in Princeton (About 16 miles due west of cambrige) and I dont care where you go now days there will be something but as far as cambridge being a meth town, far from it.
Its a nice area up there. They have some major shopping centers (Target, Walmart, Etc...) yet a few miles down the road and your in the country.
