Default Where are the fall colors in Mn.??

With fall coming on and fall colors soon starting thought it would be a good idea to ask where are some of the areas that are good for fall colors?

Great way to show off the state and inform some who may not be aware of where to go. There are lots of fall colors road trips to take. Where are some of the favorites?

My favorite spots are the North Shore (Silver Bay, Lutsen, Grand Marais) and the Brainerd Lakes Region (Crosslake, Nisswa, Fifty Lakes, Brainerd)

This morning I noticed a few trees with fall colors. This is very early; last year we were at the same point perhaps around September 15 or 20.

Earlier in the season I would expect the Boundary Waters to be great for leafpeeping, as I would the North Shore. If you're coming later, Southeastern Minnesota (e.g. US 61 by Winona and that Minnesota scenic route) are excellent.

If this cool weather continues we are in for an early fall color change. There are a lot of maple trees turning in the cities already as well as sumac and other trees/bushes. Usually this doesn't start until the end of the month.

My favorite spot for colors is right along the St. Croix, especially in Stillwater. The area around LaCrosse (I know, that is WI) is beautiful too.

The best fall leaves' colors I've seen is on the chapel walk at Saint John's University in Collegeville.

We drove down 35 to Owatonna yesterday and the trees and bushes along the highway are really starting to turn. We might see peak colors in the south before the north this year.
