Default Real Estate Commision Rate

I tried t o search for info. on this issue and was unable to find any info so:

Does anyone know what the going commission rate is in MN - specifically Rochester? This is a quick decision in my family to sell a condo that several of us own and as usual, no one does any research. The choosen realtor is saying 6% and I was thinking it is 5%. Any thoughts?

6% is pretty common although you might be able to find some for around 5% too.

5% - 7% is pretty common. It's possible you can get a Realtor to go a touch lower than that, depending on how badly they want business - but I wouldn't bet on it.

I have seen "Eagle Realty" signs outside of some homes saying that they only charge 3.99%.

Thanks for your response. I know 7% is ancient history and I've heard that 5% is normal for today's economy. I'm aware that there are some that charge much lower. I think I have seen Eagle signs here in the Metro as well. I'll have to do some research. Thanks again!
