In your town do you have a tradition or town event anticipating the arrival of springtime involving the use of an old car, placing it on about 5 feet of frozen water, and a poll involving the day it will fall through the ice?
Exciting isnt it? But this happens in many towns.
What are some of the other exciting winter traditions that we in Minnesota have to pass the time of winter?
Well allready October 2, 2009, no snow yet. How long will it hold out for do you think?

Never heard of it. But it sounds like a good idea.

I haven't heard of that being done in the last 30 years.

It was quite popular years ago with the person coming closest to guessing the time it fell thru the ice in spring getting a prize.

The car had a cable/chain attatched and got pulled out afterwards.

DNR pretty much put a halt to that ( pollution)
