Apparently Townships in Minnesota were given numbers which are hard to associate with Township names now. For instance, Bismarck Township in Sibley County was assigned number 113. But what was the name of Township 114? I assume it was a Township contiguous to Bismarck and am almost certain it is also in Sibley County.

Also, Bismarck Township (#113) is listed on an old document (1880) as being associated with Range 30. What in the heck is Range 30? I understand Latitude and Longitude and Prime Meridians but I never heard about Range designations.

The unknown Township #114 which I am seeking the name for, is listed as being in Range 28 in the same old document.

Please! Can someone help me out with this. I am a semi-senile compulsive genealogist who can not sleep until this problem is solved. If you know the answer but are too indifferent or lazy to answer, I will pray for your soul, but with little hope of success.

This is my first posting to this site. I am an analog geezer octogenarian and am not too competent with the computer. I don't know if I should include my Email address but at my age I like to take chances.

I was able to find a map online with what you are looking for. http://www.schlueter-group.com/realt...leyCounty.html

The township you are looking for is New Auburn. The T numbers go north and south, the R numbers go east and west, you find where they intersect. I am not sure if links are allowed so I will also send this message to you privately, in case the link gets edited out. There are some other townships on the map you might be interested in, also, it helps to look at the map to see how the numbering system works.
