I am think of moving to Minnesota...I live in indiana and I am looking for somewhere that gets more snow.

I want to run a horse and Sled dog farm....
I have lived my entire life on dog and horse farms. Its been a part of my life from the moment I could walk until now. Raising, breeding, showing, everything.

Can you tell me about any good colleges or towns in that state?
And I would like to own a farm so I would like somewhere a little farther away from the cities.....
Can you help me? Any info at all would be great

I would say look at Southern Minnesota. Farm land, colleges in Rochester, Winona, Mankato, Marshall, etc.

I would have to agree that if you are looking to raise sled dogs you need to go to northern MN. To often, lately anyway, southern MN doesn't get much snow. The area around Bemidji is lovely and reasonable.

I grew up in Northern Minnesota and still say Southern is better as far the farming and snow. Sure there's not as much in the south, but I'm sure it's still more snow than Indiana.

You may want to do some research on the snow, I used to live in Southern MN and have some family there and it seems like they get nailed more than we do in the cities. I don't pay any attention to Nothern MN.

I think Marshall has a decent college and there's plenty of farmland around.

Marshall is a great town and there is a lot of EXPENSIVE farm land around there, there is also very little snow. In the past 15 years there has only been a couple with snow on the ground all winter long. There was a stretch there where they only got between 8-10" for the WINTER. Sorry, for what the OP is wanting, northern MN is the best option.

I think what the OP wants can be found in northern or southern Minnesota - you don't have to have tons of snow to train sled dogs.

Sled dogs pull four wheelers all the time even during summer months in training in fact one of the mushers for last years Beargrease was from Jamaca if not mistiaken, and a few years ago around the time of Susan Butchers great histiory in the Ididarod was a musher from Atlanta Ga.

Snow is nice to have but there is summertime also and the dogs still train just like fromupthere has said, but if you take a look at the history of the Say for example Beargrease race for the 2009 and 2010 schedule you will clearly see that the mushers come from southern Mn and Northern but the majority do come from snow areas in the north, From Montanana North Dakota and Northen Wisc, as well as Minnesota, but the dogs do run in the summer months as well pulling four wheelers.
