Yes, I am aware of that, but still I think there is not enough people around that can support other stores in town and support a new supper wal-mart. It will probably hurt other stores in town. There is only 12K in all of Chippewa County and most people in Yellow Medicine county probaly go to Marshall or Willmarto do their shopping as that is where alot of them work.

New State census estimates are out. Looks like Monte lost a few people, but estimates are estimates. Better move to Marshall or Willmar. Just kidding, I dont think its anything to worry about.

no there is nothing to worry bout cuz i no Montevideo is growing they always say its srinking even Watson just out side of monte grew some which was a surprise to me

and since 2000 Montevideo has added about 700 new jobs n alot of the people r building houses outside the city limits and also we have had a lot of hispanics moving here in the last years n some r illegal so it wouldnt count for our population

Wow! 700 jobs for a small town like Monte. Thats alot! What company added that many jobs?
What part of town in the new super wal-mart in?

Micro Dymanics, Chandler, Jennos etc alot of manufacturing companies and hopefully alot more once the new hospital/ clinic is done. The super walmart is located on the far east side of town not too far from the old one.

I actually live in St. Paul now, but almost half of the year I am in Marshall doing consulting work, so I have an apartment there. Im taking a job in my hometown of Chicago in December so I am moving back there soon.
