My perception of Montevideo is that it is a nice small town. Lots of focus on agriculture. The farmers around there probably do quite well. Tightly knit community. Softball is huge there -- if you like softball, get in a league or two this summer and you'll meet tons of people.
Probably a little tough to break into the established circles, but through groups like ball leagues or church, you definately can.
As for diversity, not sure. As for growth, I think Monte is very healthy, growing, but not at any excessive pace.

yeah it dose seem that they r growing I moved near the hospital and they r putting a huge addition on there and they r also building a new superwalmart
