I grew up in West Central Minnesota, but I am looking for a change and am really interested in Stillwater. I love that it is a "book town."

I know that it is in the 6th Congressional District, which I am not really crazy about, but just because it is in a certain district doesn't necessarily mean that it leans one way politically. I'm just wondering what Stillwater is like politically to those that have been around that area? Is it super conservative, moderate, or liberal? A good mixture of all of it? I can't seem to find anything about it online, so I thought I would try this.

Thanks.

I would describe Stillwater as Conservatively Liberal. I think fiscally you will find most residents of Stillwater pretty conservative yet leaning toward liberal thinking about society as a whole. Politically the area has traditionally gone more liberal but not always.

Yea it's pretty moderate. You aren't going to find any ultra liberals roaming around town, but the people there are still open to different stuff and all that.

I have friends in a higher end Stillwater development called Liberty on the Lake. They are fairly conservative fiscally and socially liberal. So are most of their friends and neighbors.

It's all over the board. The one common thread is that most everyone is very supportive of the schools and wants to see them succeed. We are liberal atheists and have never felt uncomfortable in our beliefs here. And BTW Stillwater as a whole did NOT go to Bachmann.
