Hey I`m from Mobile and we are close neighbors to Biloxi like 30 minutes. And we are very familiar with the casinos in Biloxi and I never knew that Mississippi had another Casino town until I was visiting northern Alabama. I saw commercials regarding Tunica and Perl River I believe.

I was just wondering which region or city( Coastal Mississippi " Biloxi" or inland Mississippi " Tunica")have the best casinos and bring in the most revenue to Mississippi ? And why Jackson don`t have casinos which is Mississippi`s largest city ?

Thanks.

Maybe because Jackson is just one big crapshoot?

Tunica's larger as a whole but very spread out. You'll have three here, three there, one over here. At one point Tunica was the 3rd largest grossing next to LV and AC, but recently they were superceded. I remember traveling in Biloxi and marveling at the scenic locations and relative urban locales that a couple of the casinos were at. One was the Hard Rock. I forget what the other was. I went to the Harrah's Biloxi, and it's just like every other Harrah's I've ever been to. I do like the Tunica Goldstrike and Fitzgerald's but hate the Fitz's isolation... If Tunica was closer together/denser, it'd be nice.

I agree, we stayed at Fitz our first trip about 15 years ago. We loved the rooms, but didn't like the locale and we prefer an outdoor pool even if we do not intend to spend much time in the pool. I am one of those who hates Harrah's. Well, I don't hate much of anything, I have just never done well at a Harrahs and yes, they are all the same.

This is the MS delta. As soon as the sun starts to set, the skeeters will carry you away if you are outside. An outdoor pool wouldn't get as much use as an indoor pool.

The Harrah's in Tunica is the only one with a Paula Dean's restaurant at least the last time I checked. I'm not a big gambler so I agree that the all of the casinos are the same. 99% of the time I make my choice based on restaurant or performer I'm going to see.

It's all about being on the water. You have to have a nearby river or gulf. There are also casinos in Greenville and Vicksburg.

I am a big food network fan but Paula Dean is one of my least favorites. I think she is just a lttle overboard for me...

Yes, I do remember the critters. We have them here after sunset as well. Actually we have more knats than skeeters. I still want the outside pool. They were really bad in Tunica early in the morning. Hopefully by Sept some will have found a new home.

We stayed at Resorts (a different name then I think) last time we visited Tunica and they had an outdoor pool. We will probably only use it for about an hour mid afternoon.

thanks again for the advise, we are really looking forward to spending a couple of days there.

Nita

Casinos are only allowed on indian reservations and/or navigable waterways, ie Mississippi River, Gulf of Mexico, etc. Even then, they are still regulated as to how many are allowed and exactly where they can be built. You must remember that Mississippi as a whole is a conservative state, where casinos are legal but the lottery is not - go figure.

I prefer Biloxi casinos to those in Tunica. I prefer the atmosphere of the coast the the vast area of Tunica. Tunica is getting hit hard by the recession, however. I have not been there for a couple of years, however.

That would be funny if it wasn't so hard to figure out: No lottery: I guess they are afraid people will spend their last $1.00 buying a ticket when they stop for beer (in the places they can buy beer) of course has it dawned on anyone how that same person can walk into a casino and put their last $1 in a machine?
