McComb
I lived in McComb for four years and they were the best four years of my life. The people there are actually very nice. The South has somewhat of a reputation for shunning outsiders and people that are "different" (meaning they're not far right wing Republicans), but I didn't experience that as much as I have in other cities I've lived in in MS. It's definitely there, just not as evident. Unfortunately, there is a limited number of things to do, but there is a small mall and a few good restaurants. Not to mention that an hour and a half north is Jackson, an hour and half east is Hattiesburg, and an hour and a half south west-ish is New Orleans. The only other downside is that there is a significant amount of racial tension, moreso than lots of other cities.

Actually, McComb is noted for being a place where "you can be friends with anybody". This, as opposed to the rest of our state, where you can only be friends with people who have as much money as you do, are as saved as you are, and look as good as you do (and, hopefully, were members of the same frat/sorority). A lady who moved there from elsewhere told me this.
If you're straight, just go to any (appropriate for your social class, religion, and ethnicity) Church's Sunday service, and you will instantly have more friends than you will know what to do with. South Mississippi is all about Church, and a new member is like manna from Heaven.
If you're not straight, then any of the national Dating/hookup sites should be a good networking tool.
Popeye360, I'd try Craigslist if I were you.
