I am transferring from Colorado to Biloxi. I have been trying to find some reasonable short-term furnished lodging in the area of Biloxi and Gulfport for approximately a month to allow me to find a permanent residence. I was hoping to spend less than $1000 for the month (with everything included). I don't need anything large; a one-bedroom would be fine. I do want to be in a safe, clean area. Can anybody give me any areas that might be nice, clean, and reasonably priced? Thanks in advance!

Look up Suburban in D'Iberville, Studio 6 in Ocean Springs, and Value Place in Gulfport. All are 'extended stay hotels'. Ive heard people pay around 850-1200/month.

Does anyone know if any of the beachfront condos/apartments in Gulfport-Biloxi are struggling to find tenants because of the economy and would be willing to settle on a month-to-month, furnished lease, w/ utilities included? I would be willing to pay quite a bit more than the OP--I just would love to know if someone has particular recommendations for a place with a reliable property manager.

I was on a visit to the MS and AL gulf coast just before the BP disaster. I didn't see very many "beachfront" apartments or condos. Aside from the Casino areas in Biloxi, much of the beachfront or gulf facing properties in Gulfport and Biloxi have not been re-built. There are a couple of new hotels right near the water which appear to have opened within the last year or so. When I asked around about why so few properties had been re-built, many people told me that homeowners / property insurance rates are very high. I saw a lot of gulf facing vacant lots with for sale signs.
